WILLIMANTIC, CT- On September 3rd, on Jackson Street a band named “Hero” gave a kick off show to start the new school year for students at Eastern Connecticut State University. The school year has just begun and an ECSU student named Garrett Boulanger decided to have the band play at his house during the day and invited other students to come and enjoy the music. The band Hero consists of a singer that also plays guitar named Sage King, a 20 year old from Enfield Connecticut; and a drummer named Marc Beaulieu, 22 year old from Somers Connecticut, and graduated from Eastern this year.

The Band played lots of throw-back songs that were very popular, such as Sweet Child O’ Mine by Guns and Roses, Wonderwall by Oasis, and What’s My Age Again? by blink-182. The music seemed to get everyone excited, people were singing along and dancing to the music. The band did prove that they could sing many different types of songs. People from the crowd were very impressed by the show and felt that the two were incredible. An Eastern student named Olivia Ellis, a sophomore said, “I had a great time today, the band really played the music the crowd wanted to hear. Overall I think that they put on an amazing show. They showcased some true talent and I’m so happy I got to see it.”

Garrett Boulanger definitely overall thought it was a great time. He gave his opinion by saying, “I thought they killed it, the amounts of sounds they were able to create with just two people is amazing and I loved that they played like original stuff as well as the good ole classics”

After the band was done performing, Marc Beaulieu, the drummer answered some quick questions and said, “Yes I did enjoy playing! It’s a lot of fun to see all my friends dance and have a good time.”
